DFH Real Estate is Southern Vancouver Island’s largest independent real estate company. Since 1960, DFH has helped more families find homes in Victoria than any other firm.
One of the many reasons for this long-standing success is the adoption of the “Golden Rule” policy. The ongoing conduct of the real estate agents at DFH has cemented this widespread reputation for fair dealings on all levels.
The company’s original location was on Quadra Street near Reynolds Road. But in 1960 it moved to Douglas Street near the corner of Cloverdale. Ten years later a second location was opened on Shakespeare Street and then, in 1976, the two offices merged in a larger location on McKenzie Avenue and Shelbourne Street.
In 1985 the head office was built on Shelbourne Street and is still in use today. In addition, DFH Real Estate has offices in Sidney, the Westshore and in the Shawnigan Lake village.

The Westshore office was acquired in 1994 after Cathy Duncan and Jeff Patrick merged their Century 21 operation with DFH. In 1995 John Bruce merged his Realty World operation in Sidney with DFH, and in 1998 Sue Lyle and Robin Hodgson merged their Coldwell Banker operation in Shawnigan Lake. All of these owner-operators are still with DFH and are outstanding contributors to its success.
Another outlet for the company’s successful track record is found at the Hillside Mall, where the attractive kiosk initiates hundreds of successful client-agent relationships each year.
All of DFH Real Estate’s locations are staffed with knowledgeable and personable representatives of the company.
DFH Real Estate is owned and operated by Brian Sharp, who became a shareholder in 1978. Brian is now the company’s Managing Director and Principal Agent. He has set an excellent example of community involvement, which is followed by the employees and agents here at DFH. Brian first joined the company in 1974 and soon after served as a Director of the Victoria Real Estate Board. Since then he has held many positions in the real estate industry and in the community at large. Brian has a long-standing relationship with the Queen Alexandra Children’s Society and its foundation, where he has served as Director and Chairman of the Board. Brian’s leadership and example provides an inspiration for the entire DFH family.
